offing
(n.) the deep, distant stretch of the ocean still visible from the shore
Since childhood holidays by the sea in Northern Ireland I have been fascinated by the sea and in particular its horizon. This is my intimate search of the offing, with its many moods, appearances, colours, forms and shapes. It is my blurred expectations; my place of recurring fears; my dreams but also my yūgen.
This is my interpretation, my offing, my special place.

I was delighted to be awarded my Fellowship from the Royal Photographic Society in the Photobook genre for 'In the offing' in October 2021.
